Justice Stopped: Exploring racial injustice in St. Paul traffic policing
Root and Restore is collective of people who are committed to cultivating public safety and wellness in St. Paul that is rooted in community solutions and leadership, and centered on restoring the dignity, joy and connections of those most harmed by failed approaches to punishment and policing. The collective is looking at the experiences of traffic stops in St. Paul, which are by far the most common encounter with police, yet impact different communities unequally.
All answers will be kept completely anonymous. Your name, if you share it, will never be made public or shared.
The purpose of this survey is to understand how traffic stops affect those who live and/or drive in St. Paul. Your response will help provide the human stories to these encounters and allow us to push for concrete change to:
- hold SPPD accountable to their data and interactions; and
- reduce negative impacts like unfair stops and searches, citations, fines, and arrests.
Answers will be anonymous, but we would like to use quotes from the survey. If you are comfortable with staying in touch, we can take your first name and last initial, as well as your preferred contact. We can then stay in touch about the report and work from this survey.
